New management at JEKA
After more than 25 years of having carried the load at JEKA, founder John Th. Kusters has decided to take things a bit easier. His successor as Managing Director is Rik Gerrits, who has proven himself for more than 17 years at JEKA. Many business relations already know Rik as an expert in the field of Logistic Sign Posting. His clear way of transferring information and his well-structured style of managing the company mark him as an honest business partner. Rik Gerrits will continue maintaining and extending JEKA’s expertise and know-how. In specific cases he can always appeal to the knowledge and experience of John Th. Kusters, who remains the owner of JEKA.

The company JEKA is as solid as a rock and grows steadily. Many well-established national and international companies use the exceedingly well-considered and successful way of logistic sign posting “Science of Signs”, enabling customers to save money. JEKA stands for an unequalled quality level for which Rik Gerrits will be responsible from September 1st 2006.

JEKA seminar "Logistics"
Increase your knowledge about order picking The success of previous seminars entitled “Increase your knowledge about order picking” organized by JEKA in 1999 and 2000 motivates us to continue. A large attendance and enthusiastic reactions afterwards confirmed the notion about the need for information about modern warehouse design. This year the seminar is going to be organized on Saturday October 1, 2005, at JEKA's headquarters at the Sint Annastraat 198 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Six specialists from the logistics branch will give their view on latest developments on order picking, including a special lecture on RFID in the supply chain, by Prof Dr Cor Molenaar. After the break you can walk around in the company and visit several work shops or information stands. Participating in this seminar is free of charge, since the costs of this seminar are born by JEKA. For more information about this seminar please send an e-mail to info@jeka.nl or call us at (+31) (0)24-3523520.

In the future Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will play an important role in logistic processes, where it leads to a cost reduction from fifteen up to twenty percent. 25 Years
Logistic Signposting Systems
John Th. Kusters was born in Arnhem, the Netherlands, in 1939. In 1959, he completed his technical education. Following completion of his military service, he specialized in the area of ergonomics and technical organization. As industrial engineer he has worked at the Singer Company. In January 1974, he was appointed distribution engineer at the Xerox manufacturing plant. After 6 years of pioneering work in the field of logistics, he set up a company named JEKA as a sole proprietorship in March 1980. He spent a great deal of time at this company to product development, the production and marketing of organization systems for warehouses. At the moment he occupies the position of president of JEKA Holding, with operating companies in Europe and the U.S.

Now almost 25 years later JEKA’s products are very well known in the field of logistics all over the world. It has always been his mission to provide innovative, practical, and top-quality logistic solutions to those involved in the material handling in receiving, warehousing, and shipping departments.

From here we congratulate John with his achievement and wish him al the best for the future.

Bar code signs
For internal signposting of warehouses and distribution centers.
Correct scanning of bar codes on signs for the internal signposting in warehouses and distribution centers can be difficult when these signs are hanging relatively high. As the scanner has a limited range errors may appear caused by the distance and/or by the slanting position of the scanner compared to the vertical surface of the sign.

JEKA has realized this problem and developed a range of special bar code signs - next to their traditionally known signs for the internal signposting of warehouses and distribution centers. These newly developed signs are provided with a slanting lip on which the bar codes are attached. Through the slanting lip the employee, who is standing underneath the sign within a short distance, can scan bar codes more accurately. Besides the fact that efficiency of the signs has been increased, the signs are also on ergonomic viewpoints a progress in more accurate scanning of the indicated locations and routes. Besides bar codes, also text and location numbers can be put on the signs. In areas with pallets in block stacking these bar code signs are a solution as the location numbers are clearly readable, even when the employee is standing right underneath the sign.

The signs with the slanting lip are designed to be hanging vertically. They can be supplied in 3 different sizes: 18" x 18", 12" x 12", and 8" x 8".

JEKA seminar "Logistics"

There will be 2 identical sessions of approximately 2.5 hours. The first one starting in the morning at 10:30 hour, followed by the second session that starts at 13:00 hour in the afternoon.
